Shop fit-outs, offices and school computer rooms around Madawala Bazaar all need clean, tested cabling in place before computers, tills or cameras arrive. We take the job from route planning through termination, testing and certification, and we map routes against each building's walls, floors and ceilings at the survey stage instead of improvising once work has started. Cat6 is our standard, while Cat6a is reserved for backbone links and the server area where extra headroom pays off. Many premises along the market strip are narrow shophouses with living space above, so cable is often carried in neat trunking or through ceiling voids to keep it clear of stock and customers. Homes and small offices off the Kandy–Wattegama road increasingly want data points in several rooms for smart TVs, workstations and access points. Every installation is handed over with full labelling and as-built drawings. Madawala lies a short drive northeast of Katugastota in Pathadumbara, which makes surveys and later additions easy to arrange.

What we plan for in Madawala

  • Narrow shophouses in Madawala Bazaar often have tills at the front and storage behind, so we plan a small wall-mounted cabinet and route cable along rear walls, away from display areas.
  • Dust and exhaust from the busy market road settle on exposed equipment, so network cabinets in shops are specified with lockable doors and filtered ventilation rather than open racks.
  • Older buildings in the bazaar may have ageing electrical wiring, so we keep data cable separated from power runs and check that sockets feeding network equipment are properly earthed before installation.

FAQ

Structured Cabling in Madawala — questions

In most cases, yes. We agree a plan that works around trading hours, doing noisy drilling and ceiling work at quieter times, and finishing terminations once the routes are in. Sections of the shop can be tackled one at a time so customers can still be served while we work. The schedule is discussed and agreed with you during the site survey.

Yes, provided the original work left room to grow. We size patch panels and cabinets with spare ports, and our as-built documentation shows where every existing run goes, so extra points can be added without tracing cables by hand. If your current system was installed by someone else and is undocumented, we can survey, test and label it first, then extend it cleanly.

Cat5e is the budget option and fine for basic needs; Cat6 is the sensible default for most modern offices; and Cat6a supports 10-gigabit speeds, worth it for server rooms and backbone runs but rarely necessary for individual desks. For most offices we run Cat6 to workstations and Cat6a only on the backbone.

We recommend two data points per desk — one for a computer and one spare for a phone, printer, or future need — rather than exactly one per person. Retrofitting a single missed point after the finishes are complete costs far more than including it upfront.

Cabling during construction, before walls close up, is significantly cheaper per point than retrofitting into a finished space, where cables must be routed around existing finishes. If you're planning a new fit-out, involve your cabling provider at the same stage as your electrician.

Yes. Every structured cabling installation includes termination, testing, and certification documentation. Untested cabling can look fine on day one and cause intermittent faults months later that are far more expensive to diagnose — so certification is standard, not an optional extra.

For a typical 20-person office in the Kandy area, professional structured cabling runs between LKR 150,000 and LKR 300,000 depending on cable type and layout complexity, including data points at each workstation, patch panels, a network cabinet, and testing certification. We provide a detailed quotation after a free site survey.
